Civil Works Contracting Internship Program
Location: Wilmington, NC (28412)
Pay: $21 - $23 per hour + Housing Stipend/Subsidy
Duration: 8 - 10 weeks (Summer Internship)
Eligibility: College students pursuing a degree in Construction Management
Program Overview
The Civil Works Contracting Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in heavy civil infrastructure construction. Interns will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and estimators, gaining real-world insights into construction planning, project execution, and safety compliance. This program serves as a pipeline for future full-time employment with Civil Works Contracting. Students who complete two summer internships will be eligible for a permanent position with a 3-year contract upon graduation.

Internship Roles & Responsibilities
Project Management Support: Assist project managers in tracking schedules, budgets, and contracts.
Estimating & Bidding: Learn to prepare bids, conduct material take-offs, and analyze project costs.
Site Supervision: Work with site supervisors to monitor safety, quality control, and daily operations.
Equipment & Materials Management: Support logistics and coordination of materials and equipment.
Compliance & Safety Training: Learn about OSHA regulations, DOT compliance, and risk management.
Administrative Support: Assist with project reporting, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation.
Eligibility Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Construction Management program (Junior or Senior preferred)
Strong communication & problem-solving skills
Basic knowledge of construction drawings & common computer software
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Willingness to travel overnight to job sites within company operations
Path to Full-Time Employment
Intern 1st Summer: Gain foundation skills in project management, site operations, and estimating.
Intern 2nd Summer: Take on leadership roles, manage small projects, and work closely with project management staff.
Full-Time Offer: After successfully completing two internships, candidates may receive a full-time offer with a 3-year contract.
